Out of about 500 students, Justin Htay placed fourth individually and will be competing for a place on the national MathCounts on March 23 at the state competition.

Also joining him in the state competition will be Roopsha Bandopadhyay, Cameron Chong, Ashwin Ramaswami and Akhil Gazula.

"Mrs. Chou and Ms. Higgins had a great time at GA Tech with the eight students that competed and we look forward to some fierce competition at State on March 23rd, 2012," Sener said.

The MathCounts Competition is a national middle school coaching and competitive mathematics program that promotes mathematics achievement through a series of fun and engaging "bee" style contests.  The program exists in all 50 states plus U.S. territories and the Department of Defense and State Department schools. It is supported by the National Society of Professional Engineers at the state and local levels. Public, private, religious and home schools alike are eligible to participate, as long as students are in the sixth, seventh and/or eighth grade.
