Fulton Schools Chief Finalist Visits Milton High Before Community Meeting

The public can hear Robert Avossa's philosophy of education and quiz him about education tonight at Centennial High.

Robert Avossa, the pick as superintendent of schools finalist by Fulton County's school board, walked the halls and visited classrooms of Milton High School at lunch time today, the last of his two-days visiting schools–except for tonight's meet-and-greet at Centennial High.

Avossa, a former special education teacher, got the guided tour from Principal Cliff Jones, who answered questions ranging from teacher-student ratios to the the successes of sports teams and football ticket revenues. The latter came when Avossa looked out the window over to the football stadium as he walked up a flight of stairs.

Avossa wowed the students in Shelby Steinhauer's French 1 class with his knowledge of the language. Steinhauer, the school's and Fulton County's teacher of the year, explained the class and class room set up to Avossa.
