Creek View Elementary Lays Down a Math Challenge

Academic Bowl team opens registration for annual Cheetah Cup Math Tournament.

Creek View Elementary School has issued a challenge to other elementary schools to meet them in the second Cheetah Cup Math Tournament in April.

Creek View’s Academic Bowl Team will sponsor the tournament on Saturday, April 16 at the Alpharetta school.

Schools are invited to register five-member teams of students in grades 4, 5 and 6 to compete face-to-face.

The opportunity for students to grow mathematically is unsurpassed, the problems are clever, engaging, and challenging, and the atmosphere is exciting for student and teacher alike,” according to a news release issued by Fran Gerlich of Creek View.

The Cheetah Cup will accept up to 30 teams of 5 students each. The registration deadline is March 16. Gerlich said since space is limited and acceptance is on a first-come, first-registered basis, schools should enroll all their teams as quickly as possible.

Each team must be accompanied by an adult, who will proctor a team from another school. Students and teachers should bring their own lunches and pencils. Mid-morning drinks and snacks will be served.

Don’t bring a calculator, however; they will not be permitted.

Every student will receive a certificate of participation. Awards will be given to high scoring individuals and teams.
