Charter School Students Qualify for National Science Competition
Fulton Science Academy takes second in Georgia's Science Olympiad, falling just 7 points short of the perpetual winning school.
Students from won second place overall this past Saturday, March 24 at the State Science Olympiad Tournament at Southern Polytechnic University.
This is the fourth time in FSA history that the Science Olympiad Team has placed second in the State Competition and has qualified to represent the state of Georgia in the National Science Olympiad Tournament to be held May 17-18 at the University of Central Florida in Orlando.
The team achieved its best performance to date in a state tournament, taking first place in seven of the 23 events and coming within 7 points of JC Booth Middle School who has won the tournament every year since 1992.

FSA Principal, Kenan Sener said, "I am very proud of our students and coaches for these excellent results. After all their time and hard work, it is wonderful that our team has qualified to go to Nationals and represent Georgia.”
There are more than 6,000 Science Olympiad teams across the country. FSA’s highest ranking has been 25th at the national level. This year, the students are targeting to be in the top 10 in the nation.

“I will not be surprised if our students achieve this goal. Our students and coaches are so dedicated, and they are extremely excited for this national competition. I would like to congratulate J.C. Booth Middle School as well. They always give us a great challenge, and they help us to improve every year,” Sener said.
