Cambridge High Replaces Head Football Coach

Milton High Athletic Director Craig Bennett moves across town to take charge of the Bears after Christian Hunnicutt steps down.

Cambridge High hasn't even started its first football season and it already has its second head coach.

Craig Bennett, formerly athletic director, was named as the new Cambridge Bears' head coach.

He replaces Christian Hunnicutt, whom Cambridge Principal Ed Spurka said decided with his family to pursue other interests. Any other details of his departure weren't available because it would be a personnel matter.

Hunnicutt had taken the Bears through their first spring training.

Bennett told the players assembled at Hopewell Middle School this morning, June 1, that they have done hard work this spring and at their old high schools.

"You've done things right, you've done things wrong. And so we're going to take all the things you've done right and work to make them better," Bennett said.

"Somebody sitting in this room, is going to score the first touchdown. I don't know who that's going to be," he said. But he said it would be cool, and they'd all be making history.
