Birmingham Falls Elementary Placed on SHAPE Honor Roll

It's the second time in as many years the elementary school in Milton was named to the list.

Birmingham Falls Elementary School was one of nine schools in the Fulton County School District named as winners in the 2013 Governor’s SHAPE Honor Roll program.

The initiative was launched last year by Gov. Nathan Deal as a way to combat childhood obesity. It challenges schools to make healthy changes with regards to nutrition  physical activity and wellness.

“Students do better in school when they are healthy,” said Superintendent Robert Avossa. “The Georgia SHAPE Honor Roll program aims to keep our kids’ bodies strong so their minds can learn and perform at their best.”

Birmingham Falls Elementary was also named to the honor roll last year, the school system noted. It was one of five schools that were also named to the list last year.
