Alpharetta Residents Earn College Degrees

Students take home degrees from Berry College, Centenary, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Piedmont, Brevard, Hampden-Sydney, Alfred University, The Citadel and Washington and Lee.

Schneider Graduates From Centenary

Marisa Rose Schneider a resident of Alpharetta, was among 195 students from Centenary College of Louisiana who received undergraduate and graduate degrees during the College's Commencement Exercises held on May 5.

Schneider received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Business Administration.

Centenary College is a private, four-year arts and sciences college in Shreveport, LA, affiliated with the United Methodist Church.

Howard Earns Journalism Degree In Nebraska

Kathryn Clorise Howard of Alpharetta was among more than 2,800 students who received degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln at commencement exercises May 4 and 5. It was the largest graduating class in UNL history.

Howard received a bachelor of journalism from the College of Journalism and Mass Communications.

Johnson Earns Nursing Degree from Piedmont

Cameron L. Johnson of Alpharetta was among the 470 students receiving degrees from Piedmont College at the recent May commencement ceremony. Johnson earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.

Piedmont College is an independent liberal arts college of about 2,800 students with campuses located in Demorest and Athens.

Caracena Ready To Exercise Her Degree from Brevard

Alyssa Caracena of Alpharetta graduated from Brevard College in Brevard, N.C., during its 159th Commencement Ceremony on May 12.

Caracena earned a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science.

Alpharettans Earn Economics, Psychology Degrees

Two Alpharetta residents were among the 212 men who graduated on May 13 at commencement exercises marking the end of the 237th academic year at Hampden-Sydney College.

  • David Michael Beman graduated with a B.A. in economics and commerce. A graduate of Alpharetta High School, he is the son of Tommy & Karen Beman of Alpharetta.
  • Matthew Gregory Maloney graduated with a B.A. in psychology. A graduate of Blessed Trinity Catholic High School, he is the son of Greg & Colleen Maloney of Alpharetta.

A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney, VA school is ranked in the top tier of liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report.

Sykes Earns Art and Design Degree from Alfred University

Virginia Sykes, a resident of Alpharetta, received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art and Design, from the School of Art and Design at Alfred University (AU) during Commencement exercises May 12 in McLane Center on the campus in Alfred, N.Y.

Sykes is the daughter of Kinsley and Kirsten Sykes and a graduate of Miss Porter's School.

Garcia, Turnbow Graduate From The Citadel

Two Alpharetta students graduated May 5 from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina.

In addition, they each earned Gold Stars and Dean's List honors for academic excellence during the spring semester.

Gold Stars are awarded to students that achieve a 3.7 grade point average or higher. Gold Stars also qualify the students for placement on the Dean's List, a recognition, which recognizes students registered for 12 or more semester hours whose grade point ratio is 3.2 or higher with no grade below a C for the previous semester's work.

  • Anthony Aaron Garcia of Alpharetta, GA, earned a bachelor's degree in Political Science and Modern Language .
  • Dugan J Thomas Turnbow II of Alpharetta, GA, earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology.

The Citadel, founded in 1842, is a public, coeducational military college in Charleston, S.C., that offers a classic military education for young men and women.

Berry College sees Coughlin, Cunningham Graduate

Two of Berry College's newest 286 new alums are from Alpharetta.

  • Alice Coughlin of Alpharetta graduated from Berry College with a BA degree in Communication.
  • Luke Cunningham of Alpharetta graduated from Berry College with a BS degree in Animal Science.

Berry College is an independent, coeducational college located on a campus encompassing more than 26,000 acres near Rome.

Warner Earns Law Degree in Virginia

Michael Williams Warner of Alpharetta received the juris doctor degree on May 5 from Washington and Lee University School of Law.

Warner was among 129 students receiving their juris doctor degree during commencement ceremonies held on Washington and Lee University's historic Front Lawn in Lexington, VA.

Warner worked as a student attorney in the Community Legal Practice Center at W&L representing low-income clients.

Warner received his B.A. degree from Furman University.
