Alpharetta, Milton Find Spots in Top 10 of Magazine's Best High Schools

Five of the top high schools ranked by Atlanta Magazine are in North Fulton.

Alpharetta and Milton high schools were among the top 10 best in metro Atlanta, according to Atlanta Magazine's annual list.

Ten Fulton County high schools were highlighted in Atlanta Magazine’s annual list of best high schools. The “School Guide 2012,” which is featured in the January 2012 edition, is on newsstands now.

Shannon Kursey, principal of Alpharetta High, said the magazine's recognition shows the school is doing its jobs.

“Our teachers work hard each day to support the academic achievement of our students, and it is always extremely gratifying to be recognized for student success," Kersey said. "Atlanta Magazine’s recognition is more evidence that we are achieving our school’s mission of excellence in academics, arts, athletics and service to the community.”

Milton High Principal Clifford Jones said student achievements are evidence of the importance of quality education.

"The achievements of Milton High School students and their peers across Fulton County in the classroom, on the stage, and on the field of play reflects the importance of offering high quality public education to our community and reflects the support of the Fulton County Board of Education," Jones said.

Of the 50 schools listed, Northview High School was named the top high school in metro Atlanta, with Chattahoochee, , Johns Creek and high schools also listed within the top 10. Three other North Fulton schools made the top 50–Roswell (21), Centennial (29) and (45). In total, Fulton County secured 10 spots on the list.
