Alpharetta High Student Auditions for American Idol

Isabel Gonzalez impressed Randy Jackson enough last September to gain her an appearance before all the judges, and she'll be on TV Wednesday night.

Isabel Gonzalez already impressed American Idol's Randy Jackson in his visit to Alpharetta High last September for an audition. On Wednesday night she'll be seen on the TV show trying to impress all of the Idol judges – including Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban.

Gonzalez, a junior, earned an impromptu audition after her aunt wrote to the show’s producers and asked that they consider her niece’s talent. The nomination was impressive enough to warrant a surprise American Idol visit to Alpharetta High School in September, where Randy Jackson himself auditioned Gonzalez.

Impressed by the young woman’s talent, Jackson gave Gonzalez the opportunity to shine again before the full court of American Idol judges the following week at the Charlotte, N.C., auditions. Footage from both the Alpharetta High School visit and Charlotte audition will air on tomorrow’s episode.

Gonzalez, who also is an honor student, has been a singer and pianist for 12 years. In addition to writing her own music, she has auditioned for the X Factor and America’s Got Talent.

Just how far will Gonzalez go in American Idol? Tune in to WAGA-Fox Ch. 5 at 8 p.m. to find out.
