Alpharetta High Principal Dunn Leaving School

Citing family medical issues, Alpharetta High's principal announced his departure in a letter sent in an e-mail.

Fulton County Schools administrators are hunting for another principal with the announcement today, Feb. 24, by Alpharetta High's Gene Dunn that he will be leaving the school.

Dunn sent a letter out via the school's e-mail newsletter system saying that he needed to leave the position because of serious family medical issues.

"I'm writing to tell you that I am stepping down as Principal of Alpharetta High School at the end of this year," Dunn said in his letter.

"You may or may not know that my family has been plagued with several
challenging medical situations and I have not been able to properly support my family," Dunn said in that letter. "I love Alpharetta High School but I am a firm believe that family is first. While I consider the school community my extended family, it is my immediate family that needs more of my support at this time."
