Alpharetta High Musician to Play at Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

trumpeter Ryan LeQuier is one of 200 musicians selected from throughout the nation to play with the "Macy's Great American Marching Band" at this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

LeQuier was personally invited to participate in this year's parade by Dr. Richard Good of Auburn University. Good is one of the directors of the Great American Marching Band. LeQuier did not hesitate to accept the invitation. He has watched the parade on television for years and is extremely honored to represent his high school and State in this "experience of a lifetime".

LeQuier, a senior, has been playing the trumpet since the fourth grade and he plans to continue in college, pursuing a music education major.

Musicians picked for this honor are selected on their musical ability and past achievements from a pool of 14,000 high schools. The Great American Marching Band has become a fixture of the Macy's Day Parade which is widely recognized as the official start to the holiday season.

Stepping off from Central Park, the band will march along the famous route, flanked by the trademark helium balloons and floats, and cheered on by 3.5 million spectators. On arriving at Macy's, the band will perform in front of celebrity guests, the grandstand audience and 50 million television viewers. The band will be joined by over 50 flags and dancers choreographed by Greg Lagola of the renowned "Cadets Drum Corps of Pennsylvania".
