Alpharetta High Hosts Region 6 Basketball Tournament

The Alpharetta Lady Raiders and the Chattahoochee Cougars are the first seeds in the girls and boys brackets.

Alpharetta High School hosts the 2013 Region 6 AAAAAA boys and girls basketball tournament this week, starting Tuesday, Feb. 12, with the girls. Championship games will be Saturday, Feb. 16.

Girls – Tuesday, Feb. 12

  • The fifth seed Chattahoochee High Cougars open up the tournament against the fourth seed, the South Forsyth War Eagles, at 4 p.m.
  • The Lambert High Longhorns, seeded sixth, will play the third seed Centennial High Knights at 5:30 p.m.
  • The West Forsyth High Wolverines, the seventh seed, plays against the North Forsyth High Raiders, the second seed, at 7 p.m.
  • The first seed Alpharetta Lady Raiders, ranked No. 11 in the state by MaxPreps, will face the eighth seed Johns Creek Gladiators (2-12) at 8:30 p.m.

Semifinals will be Friday, Feb. 15, at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. the championshiop game will be Saturday, Feb. 16 at 5:30 p.m., with the third place bracket at 2:30 p.m.

Boys - Wednesday, Feb. 13

  • The North Forsyth High Raiders, the fifth seed in the regional tournament, will play the fourth seed, the Centennial Knights, at 4 p.m.
  • Sixth seed South Forsyth War Eagles tip off against the Lambert Longhorns at 5:30 p.m.
  • Like the girls, the Johns Creek Gladiators boys team plays the Alpharetta High Raiders. But the Gladiators are the seventh seed and the Raiders are the second seed in the game, which will tip off at 7 p.m.
  • The first seed Chattahoochee Cougars play the eighth seed West Forsyth War Eagles at 8:30 p.m.

The semifinals will be on Friday, Feb. 15 at 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. The boys championship will be on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m., with the third place bracket at 4 p.m.

The state basketball tournament will be held next week at Georgia Tech for the girls and boys, with the championship game on March 9 at the Macon Centerplex.
