Fifth Suspicious Package in a Week; Christmas Movie Starts Filming

Here are some of today's top headlines from around the region.

Atlanta Police are investigating a suspicious tote bag found at Lenox Road near GA-400, known as the Buckhead Loop.

According to reports from WSB-TV, police initially did not shut down the roads around the area where the bag was found. However, as they investigated, Atlanta firefighters were forced to shut down the northbound ramp of GA-400.

The package was deemed safe. Atlanta Police spokesman Sgt. Gregory Lyon told Buckhead Patch, "The package contained old food and has been cleared." For more on this story, visit Buckhead Patch.

Authorities Tuesday said the body found in the Etowah River last Thursday by fisherman is that of Blake Cowart, although medical examiners aren't sure what caused his death. They're awaiting the results of tests.

Filming for Christmas Movie Begins Today in Downtown - Norcross Patch

A production company is expected to start filming Wednesday (April 24) for the opening scene of a Christmas movie in Historic Downtown Norcross.

Crews could arrive as early as 4:30 a.m. to begin shooting the flick, which is about parents dealing with the stresses of kids and the holidays, according to the city of Norcross website.

One Arrested in Forsyth County for Meth Trafficking - Cumming Patch

A 22-year-old man was arrested Tuesday in connection with methamphetamine trafficking, according to authorities.

Pedro Aguilar-Lopez, of Rosemont Parkway in Roswell, was taken into custody by the Narcotics Unit of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and charged with trafficking methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. .
