You Can Sort Of Get There From Here: Douglas Roundabout Opens

However, bridge construction over Caney Creek in Alpharetta hasn't been completed, forcing the detour to continue.

Alpharetta's first roundabout is open, creating the new intersection of Douglas Road and Southlake Drive, but a contruction detour continues nearby.

The roundabout is substantially complete and is open, said Assistant City Adminstrator James Drinkard in a news release on Friday, July 29. Final landscaping and additional aesthetics will be installed in and around the roundabout and bridge replacement in the late fall.

Drinkard said though the roundabout is open, the bridge over Caney Creek on Douglas Road is still under construction. Individuals are not permitted to cross the bridge. Detour signs will remain, instructing motorists to utilize Jones Bridge Road and McGinnis Ferry Road to access various streets north of Caney Creek.

Rules of the Road

Motorists are reminded that traffic entering the new roundabout must yield to vehicles already in the roundabout. If there is no traffic in the roundabout, there is no need to stop. If there is traffic, wait for a break in the traffic before proceeding.
