Although a water main pipe project along less than one mile of McGinnis Ferry Road will be completely off road in the right of way, it still will interrupt traffic at times between now and Aug. 15.
Work crews from the Fulton County Department of Water Resources are installing 5,160 linear feet of 16-inch diameter water main pipe along McGinnis Ferry Road. The project starts from Bethany Bend within the City of Milton and proceeds east across GA 400 into the City of Alpharetta. The pipe will turn right off of McGinnis Ferry onto Windward Concourse and then right on Alderman Drive.
Daily activities will be conducted from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
No water service interruptions are planned for this project, which is scheduled to be completed by Aug. 15 or sooner.
Traffic on McGinnis Ferry Road will have temporary work closures during normal working hours by flagmen.
Sidewalks will be closed on the south side of McGinnis Ferry Road due to the work. Any trenches or open pits will be protected from the public with normal means, such as safety fence and caution tape.
One of the two south bound lanes on Windward Concourse will be closed to traffic during the work on Windward Concourse. One southbound lane on Windward Concourse will remain open at all times.
The intersection of Alderman Drive and Windward Concourse will have flagmen to direct traffic at the northwest corner when work is performed in that location.
