Tart Wants to Ensure Milton Sticks to Fiscal Responsibility

The District 6 incumbent seeks re-election to his City Council seat.

Milton City Council member Alan Tart, who filed for re-election to his District 6 seat, set as priorities ensuring the city's fiscal responsibility and viability, developing both active and passive parks and recreation opportunities, and having fully staffed police and fire departments.

Tart said hardworking volunteers, city staff members and elected officials have brought far in its almost five years, something he's proud of having been a part.

Reflecting on Milton’s many successes in its short history, Tart said with the economy there aren't many cities in Georgia or the rest of the country that haven't had to drastically cut back on services.

"Milton has not only been able to maintain existing services, but we’ve even been able to make gradual enhancements to enhance our citizens’ quality of life,”  he said.

“We have had to make some very courageous decisions in the past several years to ensure our citizens’ tax dollars are spent as efficiently and fiscally conservative as possible. The city needs policymakers like me who can make the tough decisions necessary to chart a new city’s future and who have the voting record to prove they are committed to doing what they say they’ll do in their campaigns.”

Tart said he is known as a defender of the city’s land use plan, zoning ordinance and design standards.

“I believe the majority of our citizens expect our elected officials to make decisions that ensure our area retains its distinctive rural, equestrian character,” he said.

Tart and his partner of 11 years, David, along with Tart’s daughter Madison, age 13, have lived in the Milton area since January 2005. Tart serves as a training officer for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) where he is actively involved on a national level with developing, interpreting, and providing training on food safety codes, regulations, and policies to protect citizens from the risks of foodborne illness. He also serves on an incident management team responsible for responding to natural disasters and national high security events like the Olympics, presidential inaugurations and summits.

He has a B.S.
