Seniors Will Get Hot Meals, Other Services July 15

Seniors will be able to get a ride to and from the Milton Senior Center and eat a hot lunch once programs begin July 15.

Fulton County Commissioner Liz Hausmann secured $295,000 to open and maintain the senior center at Community of Christ Church. It opened on June 24 to let seniors get a preview of services and for the senior center's manager, Melinda Ross, to learn what their interests are.

The Senior Center, located at 3315 Francis Road, is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Friday, July 12, for visitors and registration.

"This partnership between Fulton County and the City of Milton will be a true enhancement to the quality of life in North Fulton," said Hausmann. "Senior Services North Fulton will provide vital services and creative programs that are designed to support our seniors' ability to 'Age in Place' in their North Fulton community."

Milton Mayor Joe Lockwood said he's thrilled his city has been able to work with community partners to provide this vital resource to Milton's aging population.
"Our Milton seniors now have a place they can meet new friends and expand their interests," said he said. "You can't underplay the importance of such a quality program."

Senior Services North Fulton is a private, non-profit 501 (C) (3) founded in 1991 to provide programs and services for the older adults who live in North Fulton.
