Qualifying Ends in Milton With No Contested Races

No challengers will seek office in the city of Milton for the Nov. 5 municipal election.

Qualifying has officially ended in the city of Milton, and the city will not have any contested races for the Nov. 5 election.

On Friday incumbent District 3/Post 1 Councilman Joe Longoria qualified to run for re-election. Longoria joins incumbents Mayor Joe Lockwood and council members Bill Lusk of District 2/Post 1 and Karen Thurman of District 1/Post 1 in formally tossing their hat into the ring to run for re-election.

Resident Rick Mohrig also qualified to fill the unexpired term of the District 3/Post 2 seat in a special election.

Earlier this month, council member Lance Large announced plans to resign this fall from the seat, which still has an additional two years in the current term.

The deadline for residents to register for the city election is Oct. 7.

City voters will cast their ballots on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday Nov. 5.
