Open House Helps Decide Fate of Milton Intersection

Experts explained two proposed designs to residents.

The City of Milton Public Works Department held an open house Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. where residents were encouraged to check out two proposed design features for the intersection of Hopewell, Francis and Cogburn roads.

While no formal presentation was given, plans were available to view and experts answered any questions posed by the public.

One plan proposed a traffic light with dedicated traffic lanes in each direction with a proposed design speed of 45 mph.

The alternative would be a single lane roundabout with a right turn bypass lane on Hopewell Road and Cogburn Road. The design speed for the roundabout would be 25 mph.

Residents were asked to fill out a comment card supporting their preference. An approved concept is anticipated by May 6.
