North Fulton Radio Authority Names Officers, Approves Radio Tower Leases

The authority also approved two radio tower leases, which is viewed as the first step in shoring up improved coverage.

The cities of Alpharetta, Milton, Roswell and Sandy Springs have come together to create the board that will oversee its efforts to create a reliable public radio system.

The North Fulton Regional Radio System Authority met last week named officers to its board. The authority will work to fund a comprehensive public safety radio system for the region.

  • Chairman John McDonough, city manager, Sandy Springs
  • Vice-Chairwoman Kay G. Love, city administrator, Roswell
  • Treasurer Bob Regus, city administrator, Alpharetta
  • Secretary Chris Lagerbloom, city manager, Milton

The authority also established bylaws, secured insurance, discuss funding strategies and reviewed possible partnership options with Fulton County.
 
It also gave the green light to two radio tower leases, which is seen as the first step towards enhancing coverage of the region.    

"The authority represents the results of collaboration and a focus on common goals," Chairman McDonough said. "Our concerted efforts will ensure our public safety personnel are able to communicate and expeditiously respond in an emergency situation."

The system will use up-to-date technology to reduce costly maintenance issues and provide continuous coverage both inside and outside buildings throughout the northern part of the county. 

The authority will meet the first Tuesday of each month at Roswell City Hall
