North Fulton CID Gives Alpharetta $789,000 to Help Finish Westside Parkway

New Mayor David Belle Isle said the road should open in March.

Alpharetta's new mayor and council members got a great start to their four-year terms Monday night when the North Fulton Community Improvement District presented them with a $789,000 check.

The North Fulton CID gave the money to the city to help pay for right of way so the final section of Westside Parkway in the city can be completed.

New Mayor David Belle Isle said during Monday's City Council meeting at that "We're going to be cutting the ribbon on Westside Parkway probably in March."

Brandon Beach, executive director of the self-taxing group of commercial property owners, said it was formed with one road in mind, Westside Parkway.

Beach, who also serves as the Sixth Congressional District representative on the Georgia Department of Transportation, said the state would fund up to $1 million for construction on the nearly completed road.

The section of Westside Parkway from Old Milton Parkway north to Webb Bridge Road had been stalled for years while the fate of the stalled, and then bankrupt, Prospect Park project, was decided. Once North American Properties bought the property from the bank, negotiations began for the city to get the road opened.

That is wonderful news! What a way to start the year/new term, etc.! Now if I could find out from Mr. Beach when the new I-85/GA400 ramps will start being constructed--was supposed to start last Fall so I was told....!
