James Chadwick Brigham, a  social studies teacher accused of sexual battery and battery against two students, turned himself in Thursday night.

According to booking records, Brigham, 37, of Woodstock, posted a $25,000 bond around 2 a.m. Friday after reporting to the Cobb County Adult Detention Center around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Kell principal Trudie Donovan, who announced her retirement earlier this month, turned herself in around 7 p.m. Thursday after being charged with a misdemeanor count of failing to report child abuse. She was released around 11 p.m. Thursday after posting a $1,000 bond.

Rich Pellegrino, an outspoken activist for immigrants' rights and an Austell resident, and his family saw something drawn on their car as they left the annual Juneteenth festival in Marietta on Saturday.

Pellegrino is founder of the Cobb Immigrant Alliance. He has filed a police report, and police are sending extra neighborhood patrols through his area for his family's safety.

He is not sure if he was targeted for being an outspoken advocate for immigrants' rights, especially after being quoted in two recent Marietta Daily Journal articles, regarding President Barack Obama's recent deportation policy change.

A man who used a computer file-sharing program under the screen name “fallenone666” to trade child pornography was sentenced Thursday by United States District Judge Richard W. Story to serve five years in federal prison.

Andrew John Googins, 29, of Cumming, pleaded guilty to distribution, receipt and possession of child pornography on Feb. 3, 2012.

Family members of a Mableton teen who was starved to death over the weekend believe a Mableton cardiologist’s “hunger” teachings may have influenced the teen’s mother.

Markea Blakely-Berry, 16, was . Cobb police have arrested and charged her mother, Ebony Berry, with murder. It was later revealed that .

Berry’s family noticed that she had a Facebook connection with Dr. Andrew Chung, a cardiologist living in Mableton who encourages hunger and eating only 32 ounces of food a day, according to Grand Rapids’ WOOD-TV 8. Berry and her daughter once lived in Grand Rapids.

Tim Crunk, an assistant principal and athletics director at  for the last three years, died on Monday, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

The newspaper said that Crunk, who was 52, apparently died from a heart attack after running. 

Crunk, who lived in Acworth, also was a teacher and coach at Kennesaw Mountain High School, where he was a Teacher of the Year and led state runner-up softball and baseball teams, and at South Cobb High School, according to the AJC report.

 - Peachtree Corners Patch

In a recent City Council meeting the city's two consultants presented a list of available leased office space to serve as the new City Hall and in the June 14 meeting the Council made its selection.

The office space that will serve as Peachtree Corners City Hall is located at 147 Technology Parkway. Final negotiations are being worked out between the City and the Landlord. The City Council expects to begin renting the space on Aug. 1, 2012.
