Milton Wants Residents To Help Fix an Intersection

The city's Public Works Department plans to hold an open house April 28 on the Hopewell-Francis-Cogburn roads intersection.

How would you fix the intersection of Hopewell, Francis and Cogburn roads? Milton's Public Works Department wants to know, and is holding an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 28 to discuss and take public comment on the improvements planned for the intersection.

The open house will be held in the executive conference room at .

"We are looking at several alternatives for improving this problematic intersection," said Sara Leaders, Milton's transportation engineer. "First, though, we want to hear the public's opinions and determine the solution supported by the community before we proceed with the design process."

According to a news release from Communications Manager Jason Wright, Leaders said the open house will be informal, and no presentation will be made. Instead, plans and experts will be available and the public is asked to stop in.

The intersection was identified in the Milton Comprehensive Transportation Plan as a key improvement for the city, said Leaders. Both traditional improvements, such as turn lanes and signals, and nontraditional improvements, such as a roundabout, may be appropriate.
