Milton's Newcomer's Guide Provides Information About City Government, Facilities

Newcomers and long-time residents can find details about government services, the city's park and recreation programs and local volunteer groups in the guide.

Milton has released its 2012 Newcomer's Guide, a publication for new residents and those looking to become more familiar with Milton's government, said Communications Manager Jason Wright.

You can download an electronic version of the book, or pick up paper copies at . Contact Wright at 678-242-2523 or jason.wright@cityofmiltonga.us

The 45-page publication includes information on Milton's history, a guide to taxes, contact information for utilities, county departments and city facilities, a listing of local volunteer groups and more, Wright said. It will be updated yearly.

"I've met with a number of residents who said when they came to the city, they didn't know where to start to become enmeshed with their new community," said Wright. "This guide seeks to answer the types of questions new residents, or even longtime residents looking to become more involved in their government and community, might have - all in one place."

The Newcomer's Guides are being distributed to local Realtors and apartment complexes and are available at City Hall. Wright said he plans to offer them to schools for new student orientations and will hand them out while at city-sponsored and community events.

Homeowners associations and local welcome groups are also encouraged to pick up copies, as well, for residents seeking information on the City of Milton.

"We want residents to know we're here to help when they have questions," said Wright. "It's our job, and we take great pride in it."

The Newcomer's Guide was produced entirely in house and printed by Stone Mountain-based the Sauers Group, the lowest bidder for the project.
