Milton Residents Will Decide if They Can Buy Liquor on Sundays

The City Council approves the Milton Strategic Plan.

Milton residents will decide if they want to be able to buy liquor on Sundays at local retailers.

The City Council approved an ordinance to amend current laws to authorize of the package sales of malt beverages, wine and distilled spirits during certain hours on Sundays. This gives voters the opportunity to decide the issue during November elections.

If passed; beer, wine and liquor would be available for purchase on Sundays between the hours of 12:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.

Council members also approved the city's three-year Strategic Plan.

City manager, Chris Lagerbloom, commended the strategic planning team, whiich included both staff members and citizens, for giving their time in helping prepare the document that was approved.

In other business, Mayor Joe Lockwook read a proclamation recognizing July as Parks and Recreation month and, along with council, encouraged citizens to “join us in celebrating and supporting our ongoing parks and recreation initiatives.”

Major Lockwood also recognized members of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board for their service.
