Milton Resident Resigns from MARTA Board

A heavier workload and conflicting schedules caused Adam Orkin to resign his seat.

Milton resident Adam Orkin, one of three MARTA Board Members representing Fulton County, has resigned effective immediately, according to a release by Lyle Harris, chief spokesman for MARTA.

Orkin resigned because of a heavier workload and conflicting schedule between his business and MARTA obligations, according to a statement by MARTA Board Chair Frederick L. Daniels Jr.

Orkin had served as chair of the Operations and Safety Committee. Orkin is the CEO of a real estate investment and asset management company and is the founder of Devin Properties LLC, a real estate development company.

“It is with regret that I must inform you of the resignation of Adam D. Orkin. Over the past several months, Adam has faced an increasingly heavy workload and a conflicting schedule between his business and MARTA obligations. I want to personally thank him for his pragmatic, business-oriented approach to our many challenges. Adam’s wit and spirit of cooperation helped us move the Authority forward and those qualities will be missed. He was a valuable asset to the board. I know you all will join me in wishing him well.”

The Fulton County Commission will appoint Orkin’s replacement to the 12-member board of directors.
