Milton Mayor's Run Begins at 7:30 Rain or Shine – and Expect Rain

The chance of rain was 100 percent at 7 a.m., and drops to 83 percent at 8 a.m., but the event benefits the city's Parks and Recreation Department.

The 2013 Milton Mayor's Run starts at 7:30 a.m. today at Kohl's on GA 9, but you can still participate (if you are reading this early in the morning).

Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. Walk-up registrations will be taken. Only bring cash or a check. The cost is $30, and the fee includes a quality, moisture-wicking T-shirt and plenty of food and fluids after the race.

The Milton Mayor's Run starts at 7:30 a.m. sharp and for the third year will begin and end at the Kohl's in the Deerfield Place shopping center at the corner of Ga. 9 and Deerfield Parkway (click here for directions). It includes a 5K race, 1K fun run and tot trot.

The race will be cool, and probably damp, with the temperature 43 degrees and a widespread chance of rain. Volunteers already planned to wear rain ponchos.

The 5K race, a Peachtree Qualifier, will circle Deerfield Parkway, meaning it will be flat and fast. Awards will go to the 5K Male and Female Open and Masters and to the top 3 finishers in the various age groups.

All funds raised by this event will directly benefit The City of Milton Parks and Recreation Department and its efforts to provide citizens with access to green spaces, parks, trails, facilities, and recreation programs and activities.
