Milton Hosts Meeting on Future of Crabapple Crossroads

The city plans to update and retool its Crabapple Crossroads Master Plan.

The future of the Crabapple Crossroads community is at stake, and residents get a shot Monday night at making sure plans fit the city's needs at what is being considered as Milton's future City Center.

"It is vitally important that all aspects of the community–schools, churches, businesses and residences–are represented at this meeting," said Lynn Tully, Milton's director of Community Development, in the first announcement of the meeting.

The public is invited to a special Crabapple planning meeting Monday, March 14 at 5 p.m. at Milton City Hall, 13000 Deerfield Parkway Suite 107.

Lew Oliver's Whole Town Solutions will coordinate the meeting, which the city's Communications manager, Jason Wright, said in a news release will delve into the transportation, connectivity, building design, identity and long-term planning needs of Crabapple Crossroads community and the future City Center. It will feature a short presentation and discussion on topics that include zoning tools like the transfer of development rights, which Wright's release called a potentially powerful conservation option that could greatly influence the area’s “village” concept.

The goal of this process is updating and retooling the existing Crabapple Crossroads Master Plan to more accurately reflect the economic, transportation and growth realities of the area.
