Experience on City Council vs. 'Real World' Experience

The Milton Peoples Forum brought the District 6 candidates together in what probably will be the only forum before the election.

Milton City Council candidates faced off against each other for probably the only time before the ballot box on Tuesday night, Oct. 18, and it was a much livelier forum than most happening lately in North Futon.

The and AccessMilton.com sponsored a Milton Peoples Forum at that pulled nearly 100 city residents out on a rainy night.

Alan Tart has been challenged by Lance Large for his District 6 City Council seat.

The four years or so that Milton incumbents have in experience seems paltry compared to the almost 29 years on council or as mayor someone such as Alpharetta Mayor Arthur Letchas has. When Milton formed, no one who took office had prior experience on council. So four years on Milton council means something different than a few terms on an older city's governing body. Term limits will be the equalizer in a few more years, however.
