Milton Approves to Buy Land to Build City Hall
City Council meets Wednesday night at City Hall's council chambers on Deerfield Parkway.
Two weeks after unanimously approving to make an offer to purchase land to build its own City Hall, the Milton City Council is set to meet again Wednesday night.
At its Feb. 3 meeting, the council agreed to offer approximately $950,000 for about 2.5 acres of land behind the shops on Crabapple Road.
Since it’s creation eight years ago as a city, Milton’s City Hall has been located in rented offices on Deerfield Parkway. But that would change if the land transaction can be made.

The City’s rental agreement in the Deerfield building runs through April 2017 and the hope is to have a new City Hall by then.
The purchase came in part due to a redistribution of sales tax revenue (LOST) that was negotiated in 2012, as the City saw its revenue rise significantly from $4 million to $7.8 million annually.
