Get Out And Vote Before It's Too Late

Polls are still open for a short time. You still have time to make your voice heard.

With only a small window of time left before polls close, time is running out to make your voice heard in this year's election. People young and old have been pouring into voter precincts throughout the day to cast their vote.

Kathy Thompson made sure to cast her vote bright and early this morning before heading to work and says that there was a "steady stream" of people at her precinct on Old Alabama Road.

Jessica Szilagyi is a campaign coordinator for Alpharetta mayoral candidate David Belle Isle. She also writes a blog about local issues titled, The Persispicious Conservative. She believes the time is now to make your voice heard.

"I think it's important to vote especially in non-presidential years because voter turn out is so low. Local elections are an opportunity to select leaders who will make the best decisions that will directly affect your community. And with the SPLOST votes, citizens are granted an opportunity to decide on taxes, which never happens. Besides, who wants to be misrepresented for another term simply because you didn't vote?"

You don't need to be passionate about politics to express your desire for change. Justin Myler wants to see Sunday alcohol sales in Fulton County and saw no reason not to vote.

"I don't keep up with politics at all but I'm passionate about beer so I voted for that. The polls are a one-fourth mile from my house so it's super convenient. I was in and out of there in ten minutes tops."

Lee Campbell just bought her first home in the Alpharetta area and was eager to cast her vote earlier today.

"I think it's important for young people to speak up by voting. We don't have a right to complain about things if we don't do our part to voice our opinions."

Whomever or whatever you decide to vote for on this election day doesn't matter. Just make sure that you don't pass up the opportuntiy to make your voice heard in your community.
