Construction Continues on Avalon Despite Days of Rain

Driving down Westside Parkway local residents can get a glimpse of construction progress at Avalon, but until you are on site between the buildings what is rising in the mixed-used development isn't as clear.

Deep ruts in the mud and large standing pools of water showed evidence of the heavy, constant rain at the site. Since these photos were taken, several more storms have rained down on the site, making mud a near-constant at the site. Most days motorists driving by the site can see trucks being hosed down to keep the mud off of Alpharetta streets.

More than 90 percent of the 570,000 square feet of retail space is leased, and interest in the 250 residential units above that retail exceeds the available units.

Looking down The Boulevard in Avalon shows just how much is planned for the site. In mid-December construction had just begun on the two office buildings at the back end of the street. All of the Phase I retail/residential buildings were far along in construction.

Heading down The Boulevard from Old Milton Parkway, the Regal Cinema being built will have its front entrance on a street between the last retail/residential building and one of the office buildings. The large movie theater isn't quite dwarfed by the retail/residential and office buildings beside it.

Entrances to the residential and office spaces will be on the back side of the buildings, away from the retail storefronts.
