City Lines Up Restaurants for May 9 Taste of Alpharetta

The annual event remains downtown for another year on Milton Avenue, Roswell Street, Old Roswell Street, Canton Street and Old Canton Street.

 

More than 50 Alpharetta area restaurants will be serving up their specialties at the 23rd Annual Taste of Alpharetta, according to Special Events Manager Kim Dodson.

An estimated 40,000 people will attend the festival on Thursday, May 9 from 5-10 p.m. in the Historic District of Downtown Alpharetta encompassing Milton Avenue, Roswell Street, Old Roswell Street, Canton Street and Old Canton Street.

In addition to the food, patrons will enjoy a culinary competition, live music, three Fun Zone Areas and more.

Entrance to Taste of Alpharetta is free, though patrons need to purchase food and activity tickets at a cost of 10 tickets for $5. Tickets can be redeemed at participating restaurant booths for a wide selection of tastes that will range from 50 cents (1 ticket) to $3 (6 tickets) per sample.

Tickets can also be redeemed in the three family friendly Fun Zones for a variety of activities ranging from pony rides and rock climbing walls, to inflatable’s, balloon art and henna tattoos.

Local chefs will square off in the Culinary Competition on stage from 5-7 p.m. Awards will be presented at 8 p.m. for the top chefs in each competition category which include: Best Appetizer/Salad, Best Fast Casual Entree, Best Fine Dining Entrée, Best Dessert and Best Presentation.

In addition, a Best Booth Award for the restaurant that creates the best dining atmosphere at the event. And finally a People’s Choice Award for will be presented based on popular votes received from festival goers most loved restaurant. Booth ballots will be available at the culinary competition tent through 7 p.m. so stop by the stage and place your vote.

The event offers free shuttles and parking.

Park and Walk (no shuttle service): Milton Center (86 School Drive at Independence High School / old Milton High School).

Park and Shuttle: Wills Park Equestrian Center (on Wills Rd), Wills Park at Wacky World (on Old Milton Parkway to the right of the Alpharetta City Pool), and Publix (on 11800 Old Milton Pkwy at Haynes Bridge).
