Convention and Visitors Bureau teams with North Fulton Chamber, Georgia Camera Ready program.

Have you always wanted to visit a movie set? How about if the movie came to your door instead? Alpharetta wants your help in finding potential movie, TV and commercial locations right in your backyard–and that might really mean your backyard.

The is heading efforts to attract filming to the "camera ready" city.

"The goal is, we want to attract more filmmaking in Alpharetta," said Janet Rodgers, president of the Alpharetta CVB.

Rodgers and her team have created a group of local stakeholders, such as commercial property owners, real estate agents, city officials and media outlets to help build a photo gallery of these potential locations. They want your help in identifying these locations. Is there something unique about your home or property? Perhaps you have a barn on your large property, or a creek running across it. Maybe you have some special feature to the property or your home that meets a movie producer's needs.

Rodgers brought together a few of the 30 individuals selected to help kick start the work to build up the photo collection in the state's ReelScout program, which she said has tons of locations and photographers, everything that producers and locations scouts are looking for if they are going to produce a film."

She said people who have lived in the city for a long time-such as former City Clerk Sue Rainwater, who is on the panel-are sought because "they have knowledge of places that would be good locations but know one else knows where they are." LIkewise, the stakeholders have varied backgrounds and knowledge, which she said is important in identifying potential locations. And they'll be asked to help when producers and location scouts come calling with specific needs.

Joining them was Craig Dominey, the state's Camera Ready program manager.

The state uses ReelScout to suggest locations to movie producers based on their specifications. Dominey made it clear that the photos are not open to the general public to view, and the state knows who gets to access the password protected RealScout program.

Movie and TV productions bring money to a community through hotel stays, catering dollars, gas bought, offices rented, supplies and construction materials bought.

Rodgers said the city wants to populate that ReelScout program with all the locations Alpharetta has to offer. The Alpharetta CVB's role is as a partner to the city with this ReelScout program.

TV shows such as "The Walking Dead" and "The Vampire Diaries" have been filmed in metro Atlanta. Alpharetta has been the site for movie scenes, such as the David Duchovny-Demi Moore film, "The Joneses."

Contact the Alpharetta CVB's Mary Beecham for information on how to get your location added to the RealScout program. The organization's website will be updated to help provide basic information, or visit the state's Camera Ready site.
