Alpharetta Residents Want to Know About Westside Parkway, City Center

A Comprehensive Plan 2030 open house draws 70 residents to City Hall.

At least 70 Alpharetta residents stopped by City Hall Tuesday to get an idea of whatΒ  officials see as the future of the city as the Comprehensive Plan 2030 was presented in a four-hour open house.

Community Development Director Diana Wheeler said the most questions asked dealt with Westside Parkway and the city's plans for its downtown City Center.

A few residents were a bit overwhelmed by the many documents blown up to poster size along the walls and front of City Council chambers.

"It's too much to absorb right now," said Ed Tessaro.

Lee Guy had read many of the documents online, and had a few concerns.

"The densities are a concern and the high rises along 400. Otherwise, I don't think it's a big surprise," Guy said about the Comprehensive Plan 2030 update.

Albert Miller said he came specifically looking to see what happens with transit in the plans. He envisions MARTA rail moving north, but not while the economy is sloed down.
