Alpharetta Mayor, Councilman Join Convention and Visitors Bureau Board

Belle Isle, Aiken join the board of the agency created to help market the city.

Alpharetta Mayor David Belle Isle and Councilman D.C. Aiken have joined the Board of Directors.

Belle Isle takes over the seat vacated by Arthur Letchas at the end of his term as mayor at the end of 2011. Alpharetta’s current mayor is an ex-officio voting member of the board as established in the CVB’s bylaws.

“I am honored to serve on the Alpharetta CVB board in support of tourism for Alpharetta,” says Belle Isle.  “The tourism industry is an important contributor to Alpharetta’s economic well-being and I look forward to working with the CVB to grow this industry as we develop exciting new projects which will bring more visitors to our city.”

D.C. Aiken was appointed to the board by the Alpharetta City Council. He will serve as one of four ex-officio voting directors whose terms on the board run concurrent with their terms in office as established in the CVB’s bylaws.

“We look forward to having D.C. on our board,” says Janet Rodgers, president and CEO.  “As a longtime resident, he has a passion for the area and a real energy when it comes to getting things done.  We are ready to hit the ground running with our new board members in this new year, continuing to be a driver for the local economy by growing Alpharetta as a tourism destination.”

The Alpharetta CVB uses taxes levied on guests at Alpharetta hotels to market the city, which is intended to increase occupancy rates at those same hotels.
