Alpharetta Explains New Gun Bill To Residents
The Department of Public Safety is addressing concerns and possible questions surrounding the sweeping legislation.
The city of Alpharetta isn't taking any chances with the possibility of residents being confused on a bill signed into law that expands where licensed owners can bring their firearms.
The Alpharetta Department of Public Safety has released an information guide informing residents of what will be legal once House Bill 60 goes into effect.
The bill allows licensed gun owners to bring their firearms into bars and some government buildings that don't have security measures.
It also allows school districts to designate which staff members will be allowed to carry guns and gives religious institutions the leeway to determine if they want to allow firearms in their places of worship.
Alpharetta cites an incident late last month in which a man in Forsyth County was seen openly carrying an exposed holster pistol during a sporting event. The changes, the agency added, will "affect how law enforcement professionals interact with persons choosing to exercise their right to legally carry firearms and other weapons in public places, including our city parks and recreational facilities."
