Alpharetta Councilmen Say Sunday Alcohol Sales Vote Premature Until Deal Signs

The Governor must sign the bill allowing local ballot measures on Sunday retail liquor sales before the city would discuss it.

Alpharetta City Council members Mike Kennedy and D.C. Aiken would be glad to give city residents a chance to vote on Sunday retail alcohol sales, if Gov. Nathan Deal signs a bill passed by the General Assembly.

"I personally would like to see it on the ballot. I think the local voters should definitely have an opportunity to say yes or no on it," said Kennedy.

Aiken agreed that city voters should have local control to make this decision at the ballot.
