Alpharetta Could Allow Townhomes on Marietta Street

A developer wants to demolish 15 rental units along Marietta Street to build 30 fee simple townhomes.

A request to rezone land to accommodate more than two dozen townhomes will be considered tonight by the Alpharetta City Council.

The meeting gets underway at 7:30 p.m. at Alpharetta City Hall.

Jeff Herman is asking the council to rezone from R-10M and CUP to R-8A to develop 30 fee simple townhomes on five acres at 171, 179 and 201 Marietta Street.

The property currently contains 15 rental units.

The council will also consider awarding a liquor/beer/wine/Sunday sales alcohol license to Crust Pasta and Pizzeria, which sits at 131 South Main Street Suite H, hear an update on its City Center and consider amending its Unified Development Code to allow special event facilities such as amphitheaters to hold events up to 30 days without obtaining council approval.
