Alpharetta City Council To Consider $145 Million in Transportation Projects

Greenway extensions, major road improvements and buying property for future transit needs are suggested by the Engineering/Public Works department.

Alpharetta's Engineering/Public Works Department plans to suggest $145 million in transportation projects for possible inclusion as regional projects funded under the Transportation Investment Act.

Voters would have to vote in favor a 1 percent sales tax in the 2012 primary elections for even approved projects to be funded.

Kimball Bridge Road, Windward Parkway, Old Milton Parkway, GA 400 interchange improvements and Big Creek Greenway projects are included on the suggestions, as is $2.4 million to buy land near the Encore Parkway and GA 400 intersection for future transit that could include rail, bus, transfer stations or other transit options.
