Alpharetta City Center Completion Comes Months Before New Library

Alpharetta and Milton library branches are expected to open in the beginning of 2015.

Alpharetta's City Center is rising fast, with the new City Hall expected to be topped off by year's end, and even some brick facing added. Most infrastructure, including gas, sewer, water, electric and significant road work, should be completed as well, City Administrator Bob Regus said earlier this week.

But what about the new downtown Alpharetta library?

The Atlanta-Fulton County Public Library System's calendar for the new, 25,000-square-foot Alpharetta branch has groundbreaking set for the first quarter of 2014, with the grand opening coming a year later in first quarter 2015, according to a construction calendar provided by the library system. That's months after City Hall and the parking deck are scheduled to be completed and opened.

Don't rush over to Milton for a new library, as its construction is on an even later schedule. Groundbreaking for the Milton Library branch at the corner of Mayfield Road and Charlotte Drive won't happen until the second quarter of 2014 (sometime between the first day of April and the last of June). But it is scheduled to open in less than a year, in the first quarter of 2015.
