Alpharetta 'Back Street' Lane Closing to Fix Road, Add Parking

Crews will be working on Old Roswell Street in downtown Alpharetta

Old Roswell Street in downtown Alpharetta will be getting an upgrade starting on Wednesday morning, which will turn it into a one-lane road at times.

City of Alpharetta crews will be making repairs and upgrades to Old Roswell Street in downtown Alpharetta that will affect traffic flow in the area, according to a news release by Assistant City Administrator James Drinkard.

Old Roswell Street runs between Roswell Street and Milton Avenue, and is located behind several downtown Alpharetta Businesses (, , , , etc.).  The city has established the following schedule to minimize, as much as possible, impacts to surrounding businesses and their patrons:

Wednesday, July 20              8 a.m.-4 p.m.               One lane open at all times

Thursday, July 21                 8 a.m.-4 p.m.               One lane open at all times

Friday, July 22                     8 a.m.-4 p.m.               One lane open at all times

Saturday, July 23                 No work performed       All lanes open

Sunday, July 24                   Midnight-9 a.m.             All lanes closed

With the exception of the period from midnight to 9 a.m. on Sunday, patrons and employees of downtown businesses will have access to all parking areas located along Old Roswell Street at all times. The city anticipates that all work will be completed by 9 a.m. on July 24, at which time all lanes of Old Roswell Street will be open.

City crews will be repairing several areas of Old Roswell Street and will then reseal the roadway. This work is necessary to improve the condition of the road and is in preparation for the addition of 18 marked parallel parking spaces along the road.
