5 Things Happening Today in Alpharetta and Milton

City Councils talk about roads and trees, with gardeners teaching about bugs.

1. Put a coat on-it's cold out there. OK, it's not like those ice storms we had, but really, a high in the 60s? And only 52 degrees this morning? Bring that hoodie or windbreaker with you. You'll need it, according to the forecast by weatherbug.com.

2. New roads are rare things these days, but Alpharetta is considering a plan already designed to connect Old Milton Parkway and Milton Avenue. The city wants to make more accessible if Gwinnett Tech takes up an offer made in a letter from Fulton Schools Superintendent Cindy Loe to put a North Fulton college campus there. That's on the list of capital projects proposed to add to the city's next budget being presented at a council meeting at 7:30 p.m.

3. Unlike most parks in Alpharetta, seems to sit empty almost all the time. It has a covered roller hockey rink and uncovered rink space, but so few residents sign up for teams that it can't seem to support a league. So a proposal will be presented at Alpharetta City Council's work session tonight to turn the park into a place for the Engineering/Public Works Department to store equipment and materials. Space would be reserved for a trailhead for the Big Creek Greenway, which is planned to extend to McGinnis Ferry Road to connect to Forsyth County's greenway trail system.

4. Trees, trees and more trees. Milton plans to spend $40,00--with half of that grant money--to count how many trees are in the city. City Council will consider this during its meeting at 6 p.m. today at .

5. Which are the good and which are the bad bugs for your garden? If you don't know, then a class at the Alpharetta Community Garden at will provide you with the answers. The free class starts at 7 p.m.
