Milton Police investigate burglary of Birmingham Highway home.

A 58-year-old Woodstock man ended his night in jail after losing control of his car in a single-vehicle accident on Batesville Road near Birmingham Highway at 4:23 a.m. on Feb. 13.

When Milton Police Officer P. Fregosi arrived, he saw the witness trying to help the driver out of his car, which was flipped onto its side. Fregosi's report states that he determined the carΒ  was traveling eastbound on Batesville Road when it let the roadway until it hit a stop ahead traffic sign. The Murano reentered the roadway in a skid into the opposite lane before sliding into a ditch on the other side of the road and hitting a culvert. A Birmingham Highway couple reported the theft of almost $2,000 worth of jewelry and precious metals from their home on Feb. 11.

Officer A.P. Baronian said in his incident report that the couple reported coming home just after 6 p.m. and saw a rear door made up mostly of glass had been broken into, with glass smashed out where a person could reach the deadbolt.

The couple reported that the only thing apparently missing was a jewelry box with rings, bracelets, other jewelry, a debit card, a Home Depot credit card and possibly some other retail credit cards.

The couple later reported a $100 charge was made on the debit card at a Western Union in Roswell, and two failed attempts to withdraw another $100.
