Victim Identified in Fatal Single-Vehicle Accident in Alpharetta

Wet roads and speed were contributing factors to the accident, police report.

UPDATED 5 P.M.: An Alpharetta woman died at the scene of an accident Thursday before 9 a.m. on the Haynes Bridge Road ramp to southbound GA 400.

Alpharetta 911 received an emergency call at 8:45 a.m. from a motorist who witnessed a severe traffic crash.

"The witness advised the Alpharetta 911 center a silver passenger car traveling on the Haynes Bridge exit ramp toward GA 400 southbound had left the roadway and overturned down an embankment," said George Gordon, public information officer for the .

Alpharetta police and fire units responded to the scene, where they discovered a 44-year-old female driver trapped in a 1999 silver Mercedes Benz, Gordon said. She was the only occupant of the car.

The driver, Mrs. Margarita Belik, 44, of Alpharetta died at the scene. The preliminary investigation has revealed the weather conditions (wet roadway) and speed as contributing factors to the crash. An investigation by the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety’s traffic crash unit continues.
