Whitney Houston's Adopted Son Arrested in Alpharetta

Nicholas David Gordon was stopped for speeding, reckless driving on North Point Parkway Wednesday night.

On the same day that Whitney Houston's daughter was cited in a traffic accident, her adopted son was charged with reckless driving and speeding in Alpharetta for allegedly driving 82 mph on North Point Parkway.

The Alpharetta Department of Public Safety reports that Nicholas David Gordon, 23, of Alpharetta, was arrested and charged after a car police say he was driving was stopped at 6:39 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, on North Point Parkway near North Point Mall.

An Alpharetta police officer assigned to the Traffic Enforcement Unit was operating a laser speed detection device on North Point Parkway when an incident report states he saw a gray Chevrolet Camaro speeding. The officer said his laser device tracked the car's speed at 82 mph in a 35 mph zone that is filled medium to high end retail stores, malls and numerous dinning venues.

"The danger lies in the fact this is a high vehicular and pedestrian traffic area. In a situation such as this, the Department has a duty to take reasonable enforcement action to protect the public," said George Gordon, a Department of Public Safety spokesman, in a release this afternoon.

After stopping the vehicle, the officer conducted a traffic stop against the vehicle. The driver was identified, arrested and cited for reckless driving and speeding. He was transported to the North Fulton Alpharetta Jail Annex.
