Alpharetta Man Wanted in Atlanta, Dawsonville, Arrested in Johns Creek

The Johns Creek Police Department said that a bicycle theft report led to the arrest on different charges.

An Alpharetta man wanted by two other police agencies was arrested by Johns Creek Police following a report of a bike theft.

On June 26 a Johns Creek police officer was dispatched to Breckenridge subdivision following a report of a stolen bicycle.

The officer met with the juvenile victim, who said that he left his bike on the lawn in front of the clubhouse and that when he went to retrieve it, it was missing.

The victim described his bike as a white Cannondale mountain bike with blue and gray stripes. The victim said that he spoke with a lifeguard at the pool and a landscaper, who both claimed to have seen a man loading a bike into a Jeep.

The officer located the man on the scene, who stated that he did not take the bicycle, but had his own bike with him. The officer observed the bike, which did not fit the stolen bicycle's description.

However, when the officer checked the subject's information, it was discovered that he was wanted for a felony theft by taking by the Atlanta Police Department and a misdemeanor failure to appear by the Dawson County Sheriff's Office. The man was taken into custody and transferred to the Alpharetta jail. He was not charged with theft of the bike.

The officer told the owner of the stolen bike to locate the serial number so that it could be entered into the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's database.
