Victims Found on GA 400, Greenway Died of Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wounds

Alpharetta police have ended their investigations into the unrelated incidents.

Alpharetta investigators have concluded that a motorist found dead in his car and a man whose body was found near the Big Creek Greenway both were the victims of self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

Police closed their investigations into the unrelated incidents today, said George Gordon, spokesman for the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety.

Alpharetta police responded to a call by a Georgia Department of Transporation HERO driver on Dec. 12. The HERO unit operator found a man inside a car on GA 400 northbound just north of Kimball Bridge Road. The man in the car was dead.

Three days later, Alpharetta police responded to a section of the greenway trial system south of Kimball Bridge Road, where a partially decomposed body of a man was found in the woods 200 yards away from the trail.

The identities of both individuals are being withheld at this time and will be released when appropriate, Gordon said in his news release..
