Union City Woman Gets No Help from Mom in Shoplifting Arrest

The following arrest information was supplied by the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety. It does not indicate a conviction.

An unemployed 19-year-old Union City woman was arrested the day after Christmas on a charge of shoplifting items worth more than $300.

A loss prevention officer stopped the woman whom he said he saw cover the items with her jacket and left the store without paying. Her mother and another woman who were in the Target on North Point Parkway with her said they didn't know anything about the shoplifting.

The officer spotted a gray Dodge Charger driving 74 mph in the 35 mph zone, and a blue Dodge Challenger in the other lane driving 80 mph. The officer stopped partially in the road and motioned for the two cars to stop, which they did.

The 18-year-old driver of the Charger denied he was driving at 74 mph. The juvenile who was driving the other car had three passengers in his car, a violation of his Class D driver's license.

Joshua M. Gaudineer, 18, of Odessa, FL, was charged with reckless driving, racing on a highway or street, and speeding. The juvenile driver faces those same charges, plus violation of his Class D driver's license.

The teens and their cars were released to their mothers, who were called to the scene.
