Tornado Warning Ends, Severe Thunderstorm Warning Continues

Earlier tonight the National Weather Service said radar indicated a storm capable of creating a tornado moving southeast from Holly Springs, but that threat appears to have ended.

UPDATE 8:05 PM: The tornado warning has ended, but the severe thunderstorm warning has been extended to 8:30 p.m. And a severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 1 a.m. Friday.

Doppler radar continued to indicate a tornado located near Sweat Mountain and heading southeast at 40 mph at 7:36 p.m.

Straight line winds of 70-80 mph may be possible in Roswell, east parts of Marietta and Sandy Plains.

The National Weather Service said if you are in these areas, expect damaging winds and move to a safe place immediately.

Other locations in the warning area include Alpharetta, Sandy Springs and Johns Creek.
